Buyers of Harcrest Homes who choose locations near Lake Lanier may find there’s no longer a need to vacation instead they can focus on a lake staycation. With the luxurious features, open styling and personal attention Harcrest Homes’ experienced team of builders put into every custom-built home, even resort accommodations are likely to pale in comparison. Plus, with all of the activities available near the lake, who wants to go to the trouble of traveling?
Whether you’re looking to fill your days off with adventure, relaxation or just plain fun, it’s easy to create your own staycation from the comfort of your Harcrest home.
Spend the Day On the Water
The most obvious place for a Lake Lanier staycation is on the lake itself, where boating, skiing, fishing and watersports are popular pastimes. Some Harcrest Homes are built on lakeside homesites, allowing easy access to water activities. Many marinas rent boats, too, including Port Royale Marina. From a runabout to a pontoon boat to a party boat or houseboat, you can choose your style and set the tone for your staycation.
If you’re in to watersports, Lake Lanier Olympic Park is a popular spot for rowing, kayaking and canoeing. Home of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, the park’s history of hosting watersports champions makes it a popular place for amateurs to hone their skills or just enjoy a day on the water. You’ll find rentals for the appropriate equipment, from kayaks to paddleboards to wave-runners and waterside toys, at marinas and places like Energy Watersports.
If you’d rather spend your staycation by the water rather than on it, check out some of the shoreline beaches. Vanns Tavern Park has white sand beaches, as well as picnic areas and a boat launch. Lanier Islands Resort offers several beaches too—plus lots of water park fun!
Land Lovers Can Staycation Too!
If you’re feeling a little waterlogged, there’s still plenty to do on your Lake Lanier staycation!
Hit the links at any of several golf courses in the area. Legacy Golf Course on Lanier Islands offers stunning lake views, while Chicopee Woods in the rolling hills of nearby Gainesville feels like an escape into nature with regular wildlife viewings. And if you’re not up for a full 18 holes, you’ll find places to perfect your disc golf or mini golf game too!
You could also plan a day exploring Lake Lanier’s many trails. Don Carter State Park on the northern end of the Buford Dam offers four miles of paved and natural trails. Little Ridge Park, with views of water and wildlife, and Laurel Park, a shaded spot near the lake’s shore, have popular walking trails, too. (Plus, in Laurel Park, the kids can cool off in the splash park after the walk!)
And if you don’t actually want to walk yourself, try spending a day on horseback! Saddle up at the Stables at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands and enjoy the ride as gentle horses guide you through scenic trails along the lakeshore.
Too Much Activity? Try a Day at the Spa!
If just reading about these staycation possibilities is making you tired, try booking your staycation day at a spa instead. The Spa on Green Street and Tranquility Spa at Lanier Islands both offer a variety of services to help you find the zen you need.
